Stranded Colorwork Knitting - Saturday May 2nd, 9:00am-noon
Discover the joy and beauty of Stranded Colorwork knitting!
We will guide you through the basics of this classic style of colorwork knitting while knitting the hat shown.
Stranded colorwork knitting is a technique for working two (or more) colors of yarn in the same row. It can be used for a wide variety of patterns from very simple to extremely complex designs.
The color changes are generally close together. This allows you to carry the yarn you aren't knitting with across the back of the work as you go. You will be creating floats on the back side of the work.
Stranded colorwork knitting makes a nice warm fabric because all those floats add extra bulk and warmth. That makes this a great technique to use for small colorwork patterns on bags, sweaters, socks, and other projects where the back side doesn't show.
